Piers Plowman is a long allegorical Middle English poem, generally attributed to William Langland. Bibliographic notesScholars distinguish three major versions of the poem, the A-Text, the longer B-Text, and the later C-text. These versions are found in over 50 manuscripts from as far back as the 14th century, and the exact wording of each Text can vary between manuscripts. Modern editions can vary as to which Text versions, and source manuscripts, they draw on. Some editions also translate the poem into more modern English. See also |
These editions present one text of the poem, possibly derived from multiple manuscripts or versions.
