Within these halls of tranquility The hand of man is not seen A vault of starlight Held aloft by ancient trees Our timeless companions They stand watch over this sanctuary Of primeval solitude Ravenous hordes claw at the gates A swarm, starved of purpose And promised a birthright Destined to live in hunger Born to serve their ghoulish masters Raze creation down to the mantle Raise monuments to their creator Such hollow gestures for hollow beings Hold fast May we find peace again After their kingdoms fall

Marathon 11:06
Oh, how the years have slipped away Since you left your home behind Rode off with a band of rogues In search of giants to slay Traded a warm hearth for nights in the dirt Now you stand alone on the battlefield Prepare that tired horse For one final final ride Pray that you can fight long enough To die in combat Pour something strong and raise a glass To all of your friends in the ground Pour another few for yourself In hopes that you’ll catch up with them “This wretched hand that I’ve been dealt Was but cruel fate, writ in stone” Add another voice to the choir Of lies that you tell yourself With sunken eyes so fixed on the dead You never could see the living
3.
A gallery of decay My eyes set on the path ahead Beset by wraiths with familiar faces They arrange the carrion to please the vultures Weary, I take refuge at the edge of a lonely pool Sunlight dances softly on the ripples in the water The crystalline surface reflects a vision Of the harrowing path that lies ahead I gaze deeply into that cruel mirror A tired and sunken face gazes back What dwells within the depths beyond This forlorn visage laid before me? Faint footprints pressed in silt Bones sunken in the mud Pale bodies swathed in rot Surrendered lives “Linger not at my shore Lest you find yourself Moldering in regret”
