about

In 2025, Orbits returned with the single "Broken Glass" and on 29 August they will release their debut album Blood Red Sky.

While their EP Bad Mantras showcased Orbits’ darker, more experimental side, their debut album Blood Red Sky opens up a broader musical landscape.

From sweet pop melodies to lush, Arthur Verocai-inspired string arrangements, minimal D’Angelo-esque beats, and expansive jam sessions, the album offers a wide array of sonic experiences. With contributions from some of Norway’s finest musicians, as well as California-based virtuoso Zach Tenorio [Arc Iris, Willow Smith] on organs and synthesizers, Blood Red Sky takes listeners on an exhilarating and unpredictable journey.

Recorded live in an abandoned gym hall in a small Norwegian town, this album stands as a testament to the power of human creativity, capturing the raw energy of music performed by living, breathing artists.

BIO

Orbits is a newly formed band that blends elements of alternative rock, indie,
and jazz to create a sound that is both innovative and captivating. With their
thought-provoking lyrics and orchestral music, Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist), producer Erlend Mokkelbost and vocalist Natalie Sandtorv (Neon Ion) are joined in live performances by members of Arc Iris, Fieh and Elephant9.

Musically, Orbits is a combination of the trio's styles and influences and a shared vision for jazz experimentation, melody and collaboration. The resulting sound is a clash of jazz, psych rock, R&B and soul with the members citing Thundercat, Sade, Philip Glass and influential Brazilian composer Arthur Verocai.

Blood Red Sky is out 29 August on Jazzland Recordings.
