about

"Nice to meet" you came about like this: The Leipzig-based musician and artist Ariel My Friend offered to design cover artworks on Instagram (for free!). I really like the covers Ariel has made so far, so I asked for one for my single Teaseasy. A few days later, I received this lovely cover. I liked it a lot, but for me, it didn’t quite fit the song.
That’s when the idea came to me to create new music for this cover—to use it as inspiration.

One afternoon, I recorded a bunch of sketches and developed a few of them. I deliberately worked rough and fast, and treated it as an exercise in appreciating that approach. No metronome, no painstaking re-recordings. A few days later, I did another session to add some details to the tracks. And then just minimal editing. That was it.

I recorded everything at home using a Zoom H5 and a Shure SM57. The instruments: classical guitar, piano, Yamaha VSS-200, Soma Lyra-8.
What does it sound like?
To me: peaceful, light, naive, crackly and (german word) knarzig

With the 2025 single Teaseasy, Fenge takes a slightly rougher and more danceable turn. The EP Nice to meet you, released in 2025, is probably his most unpretentious release to date.
Fenge’s music has been featured on radio stations such as ByteFM and Fritz Unsigned, and he also hosted the Popfilter podcast on detektor.fm for a week on behalf of Sorry3000.
