All ready for St Patrick's Day

in my new green linen and Liberty "Sawtell" dress!

I took my time making sure it was as perfect as I could

make it!

I'd had this piece of linen for quite some time and really

wanted to find the perfect pattern!

On a whim I joined the "Curated by In The Folds" group where, for a monthly subscription, you receive a pattern, sewing techniques, hints and lots of support during the making process.

There is a link here if you are interested in the concept.

I took my time binding many of the seams with a

treasured piece of Liberty I bought in Bordeaux in 2014.

And of course I had to add a "Kylie and the Machine"

label that says, "YES, I made this"!

I also did top stitching across the back yoke, the

neckline and around the pocket shield.

It is exciting waiting to see what the next pattern

release will be ?!

Happy sewing!

Whittaker!

I enjoyed EVERY minute of making this pinafore!

While the pattern was pricey, the fabric was free!

So no complaints there!

The instructions are clear and detailed.

The tailoring details were time-consuming but very

enjoyable to achieve.

It was great to focus and concentrate on new skills.

I had hoped to use my Juki's twin needle but due to

lockdown, couldn't leave the house to shop for thread.

                                    Or buttons!

So eventually I found these cool hand made Liberty

ones.

Maybe they don't exactly match the lining but I'm ok

with that!

You get a better idea of the finishing details here....

I am really looking forward to breaking out and

wearing this!

Until then, these photos will need to suffice!

Happy sewing!

Finding time...

in a busy schedule to craft!

"Crafting can help those who suffer from anxiety, depression or chronic pain, experts say. It may also ease stress, increase happiness and protect the brain from damage caused by aging."

So I'm trying to find the time to...

sew and knit for Barbie,

 knit socks!

make a little bag for gift giving.

I won an Instagram giveaway for this sweet pin..

and I'm making plans for this cute puppy fabric.

The Liberty book was the only sewing book on offer

in the raffle at our Christmas luncheon!

So, of course, I snapped it up!

Happy days!

Liberty and Kantha

I have a reasonably large stash of Liberty fabrics.

So when I saw a Liberty + Kantha stitch-along happening on Instagram, the idea really appealed to me.

I cut two and a half inch squares and pieced two panels to make a 241 tote bag from Noodlehead.

I backed each piece with some fusible batting and started stitching.

It was the perfect holiday project, in the car and in the sunshine!

I prepared the side and pocket panels before I went on holiday.

The glorious sun shining through really inspired me!

I was excited to return home and piece the bag together....

And before I knew it, it was finished!

It turned out just as I imagined!

Happy days!

Sewing, Knitting, Quilting

A panel of Liberty patchwork for a 241 tote bag.....

which I'm hoping to hand quilt!

Heart blocks for Christchurch....

and blocking the hand knitted baby blanket, in

preparation for backing.

And my next knitting project waiting to be cast on

Finally, I am

toying with the idea of making something for

Liberty Love!

I finished this cushion cover recently...

I need to buy a bigger insert

made from my meagre stash of Liberty fabrics!

Most of this was purchased at a New Year sale from

Kim @ L'uccello.

Happily my stash is about to increase....

10 fat quarters of luscious Liberty!

thanks to this amazing giveaway!

Have you heard of Massdrop?

No?

I hadn't either until I read all about it on

Sarah's blog

where I won the Liberty!

"Massdrop helps people buy together as a group

to get awesome prices for the things they want."

And who doesn't want more Aurifil

at the cheapest price?

I know I do-

I certainly NEED more thread!

Where I live, Aurifil costs anywhere

between $16.25Aus and $17.50Aus

for a 1300 metre reel!

I've snagged a six pack for $45.99!

Even adding very reasonably priced postage

makes this a great deal!

(I've just read that the postage is free if you are in the US!)

There's still time to grab some!

(This is purely independent blogpost,

not sponsored by anyone)

I'm now planning what I will make with all my

pretty Liberty!

Hurry Mr. Postman, hurry!

Happy sewing!

Sewing up a Storm....(pun intended)

A long wait at the airport

gave me plenty of time to plan

what sewing I was going to tackle

when I finally arrived home!

First up, Debbie's MCM bee block...

Rolling Diamonds by knottygnome

Do you think there is enough contrast in it?

Next I pieced all my Scrappy Sandwiches together...

I'm looking forward to quilting this soon

when I get backing and batting.

I have my binding ready though!

Finally, my Liberty cushion...

Before stitching it together

has its final stitches completed.

But I will save the full reveal for another day!

Did you have some sewing time this weekend?

Happy sewing!
