Other plans

My sister visited recently and I made up this cushion

cover for her.

Then she helped me go through my stash of clothing

fabric and match up some patterns...

The green check was a remnant from a thrift shop,

the donkey brown cord from Supercheap Fabrics.

The mauve double gauze, from Spotlight, will be a top,

the pink/red linen, an online purchase, a dress

possibly for a mid-year wedding?

I love this pattern that Helen bought...

the navy check will be for her;

the blue/pink will be mine.

Unfortunately, there is not enough pink to make

this dress, it's pretty narrow.

I bought these 2 yards at Salvo's for $3.

When I did some research I found it online here

for $36.75 a yard!

Too nice to mess up, don't you think?

Finally another op-shop find, a cotton gauze that will

become a kimono-style nightie.

All recorded here for accountability's sake!

Happy days,

The green theme continues!

I think it took me a while to realise that green is my favourite colour….

But there’s no denying I love wearing it!

I recently finished a blouse, made from a lovely rayon floral,

purchased at Darn Cheap Fabric sometime last year.

I remember we had not been out of lockdown very long,

And I had a lovely chat with another shopper about just browsing and touching fabric….

And dreaming of what we might make….

And having a reason to go out and wear our newly made garment!

And the pattern (New Look 6704) I chose was

purchased during a Spotlight sale…

Where again I chatted with a lady about our possible purchases.

This was a fairly easy pattern to make…

And I was very chuffed when the button loops pulled

through perfectly!

You can’t see it, but I finished the inside sleeve and side

seams with a French seams

So it’s almost as nice on the inside as on the out!

Now I guess I better find a place to wear my new

blouse.

Happy sewing!

A Lull...

 in the quilt-making at least!

While I wait for my Blossoming Blooms quilts to be

professionally quilted,

I have not been inspired to start a new quilt.

That's not to say I haven't been dabbling in other fabric

related pursuits...

I visited a small Vintage textile/garment exhibition and

these two dresses caught my eye...

An unusual floral arrangement with pomegranates and

cauli-flowers!

I also finished my Whittaker pinafore, all except for the

buttons and buttonholes!

The front...

The back...

I will need to get some 'glamour' shots when it is

properly done!

I have also been enjoying a change of pace working on

this jigsaw puzzle!

While it is not fabric, it is designed by Monika Forsberg.

She designs fabric for Gorman, a favourite dress shop in

Australia...

AND for Anna Maria Horner's Conservatory range.

In fact, Blossoming Blooms is made primarily from her

fabric!

Finally, I prepared blocks and a table runner for a

"machine quilting with rulers" class I'm starting on

Friday!

I really love this colour palette!

Maybe this will become my next quilting project?

Happy days!

A change of pace!

My quiltmaking took a back seat for a while,

while I made some clothes...

a blouse in Kaffe cotton....

and pants in linen for me,

And a dress in vintage cotton plisse ,

and top from an Outback Wife cotton/merino twill for

my sister, Helen!

We had a bit of fun taking photos

and trying to give the features a fair showing

such as the splits in the top....

the ruffle on the back of the other top....

the pockets.....

and matching checks on the pants....

or the spotty binding on the dress!

The joy is definitely in the making and the wearing!

Happy sewing!

Potpourri

I've had problems with moths and silverfish,

nibbling at my "out-of-season" clothes!

and I certainly didn't want the smell of mothballs

permeating them!

So I followed a recipe I found here

And I ordered some lavender and lemon balm online

to make some little fabric sachet bags!

and set them to work!

On a completely different note, I wanted to check the

length of my Whittaker pinafore,

So got my lipstick on and coerced Mr PnP to take

some photos!

And I am happy to say the length is perfect!

Finally I found another fabulous free tutorial here

@lillyella:

after seeing lots of them on Instagram!

It's a mini maker station for the arm of my couch!

I love how it keeps everything together!

The perfect place for all my English Paper Piecing

supplies!

And I am pretty sure my Quattro Colour is going to be

finished soon!

Happy sewing, and stay strong friends!

Staying busy!

I can honestly say I don't remember how long we

 have been in lockdown.

But sewing helps me punctuate my days!

I certainly don't have the focus to baste or quilt,

Although I have pieced together

a modified version of my Smorgasbord quilt.

And enjoy evenings EPP'ing my Quattro Colour quilt.

I'm up to the last round, aiming for an October 1st

finish!

I have chosen some smaller projects too...

A new cushion in more subdued colours.

Using up every scrap of these fabrics!

I sorted out my dressmaking fabric stash and

made a Style Arc "Eme" dress.

Happy sewing indeed!
