about

When he’s not driving the backbeat or serving six string duties for some of Melbourne’s best alt-country ensembles, drummer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Patrick Wilson is busy crafting his own brand of authentic country rock ‘n’ roll.

Following up his debut long-playing release ‘It'll Be Alright’, his latest single ‘Fool Moon’ features a duet with award winning country/Americana superstar Ella Hooper.

The song was recorded and produced by Patrick Wilson in early 2023 as a demo but ultimately became the master track. The song centres around two lovers at a time of conflict, not knowing the outcome of their future or whether forgiveness can prevail. The fork in the road is apparent and these ‘star-crossed’ lovers must decide to fight to be with someone they've hurt or forgive the one that hurt them.
"The wunderkind himself, Patrick Wilson, asked me to sing on this track, and after listening it was very much a no brainer. It’s a lilting sweet n salty tune with dare I say a slightly Caribbean feel (?!) with one THE BEST ouchie-heart-sting’y lines I’ve heard in a while in it (in the chorus)." Ella Hooper
Fresh from a tour of the country music heartland, Tamworth, Wilson presents a heart wrenching tune that is beautifully and melodically delivered by himself and Hooper.

lyrics

Fool moon fool me
what can will be
Found arms found lips
one lasting kiss
Care hears him calling
love sees him falling
One truth is spoken
One heart is broken
I’ve seen them laugh
seen them cry
see them learn
spend all their time
snake charming a worm
What makes me dream about
This life I might lead?
Is it a want to escape me
Don’t look away now
Can it mend somehow
Will words fix scars
Or Is it written in the stars
no time left to cry
Its one last goodbye
To long to write it
One way to read it
I’ve seen them laugh
seen them cry
see them learn
spend all their time
snake charming a worm
What makes me dream about
This life I might lead?
Is it a want to escape me

There’s a tender, unmistakable charm that lingers in the work of natural-born storyteller, Patrick Wilson.

“Patrick Wilson is a twang assassin. Beneath his polite, disarming and charming exterior he is a multi-faceted musical ninja, capable of cutting through your heart-strings with a single turn of phrase or a twist of melodic flare.”
