Out of Here 02:36
One more second, won’t you wait Just one more minute, one last day The time has gone, it won’t be long to wait Till we’re out of here Till we’re out of here Yeh we’re out of here
2.
Epoch 04:50
Here it comes, the end of time, flowing like sweet red wine And there she goes, the falling sky, did you ever see the stars so bright? This Epoch, this Holocene, this Pleistocene, this Quaternary Let’s slip out this ageing scene, it’s clear to see you’re in a hurry Here she comes, the edge of time, gliding like a surgeon’s knife And there it goes, the rising tide, did you ever catch a wave so wild? This Epoch, this Holocene, Anthropocene, this Quaternary Let’s rip up this age old scene, it’s clear to see you’re in no hurry Slow to start, we’re building speed, another day bleeds to the evening Slow to start, I’m building speed, just one more year is all I’ll need Slowly sliding to the deep end, pick a pattern, keep repeating All this time and so much speed, another year, another please Neck deep in my own thoughts, there’s no recourse Head up in my own cloud, just don’t look down In debt to myself and everyone else It’s not me, it’s them, with the hand of the devil Here it comes, the rise and fall, bouncing like a ping pong ball This Epoch, this Holocene, this Pleistocene, this Quaternary Let’s slip out this ageing scene, it’s clear to see you’re in no hurry
3.
The Go Slow 02:42
The last frost silvers the morning, the birds elating The clouds swap silver for gold as the sun is waking This go slow has frozen us both And it’s so good to be out of the cold I love you and want you to know A last gasp on the horizon, the storm inhaling The clouds strobe silent and gold as the drum roll fading This go slow has broken us all And it’s so good to be out of the storm I love you to the edge of it all The sun is always rising somewhere This go slow’s been holding us both And it’s so good, so good to let go And I love you and hope that you know The sun is always rising somewhere The clock swaps minutes for moments, the birds elating
4.
Don’t think I should bend the rules But I couldn’t play straight if I wanted to And the rules keep changing Shouldn’t need to explain your moves To the creatures that live under you Or the roads I am taking But you can’t stop these games You can’t stop these games It’s not black and white, it’s black and blue By the time I’m done, by the time I’m through With the truth I am shaping It’s not real, not tangible Just as I say, not as I do In the role, I am playing But you can’t stop these games You can’t stop these games You can’t stop these games Oh you can’t stop these games
5.
I’m waking up, I’m racing time, chasing shapes and numbers, words and lines But from the light the darkness shine, dredging detail on the devil’s time Scratching detail from detail I’m working hard, I’m reaching up, I got my eye hooked on the higher stuff I give it all, it’s not enough, if less is more do you want more of less when that’s all I have left? One small step on the left, am I in heaven or hell? One small slip on the right to paint a Jackson Pollock abstract of my life My head it burns, my heart it yearns to chase the sunset up the northern fells To take the air from high above, I got my eye hooked on the higher stuff The city choke so far below, I reach the peak with nowhere else to go, nothing left but hope One small step on the left, am I in heaven or hell? One small slip on the right and I’m a pretty pattern on the rocks below One more step on the edge, am I in heaven or worse? One small slip on the ledge and I’m a Jackson Pollock abstract of myself Upon this peak, I’ll make my peace With all I’ve ever been and will ever be The light I seek, sets here for free On all this beauty I could never see tumbling down my feed It’s not enough, it’s not enough, is that enough? Then if you had enough of reaching up, of aiming high but feeling low From fear of what the future hold All the tales that we’ve been sold, they’re getting tired they’re getting old They’re ours to keep or ours to throw But on and on and on we scroll, like spinning plates about to fall and if they do or if they don’t And rising tension, falling odds of atom bombs about to launch and if they will or if they won’t And all these things we can’t control One small step to the left, am I in heaven or hell? One small slip on the ledge to paint a Jackson Pollock abstract of myself To fall apart, it’s modern art
6.
A red light to your arrangements A headline to hide away from Now wash your wild imaginations This sunshine is contagious Time given, not taken, not by your side God knows that I should not waste your sweet time, your sweet time The blue skies of isolation The white lies of their persuasions To wash your hands of obligation A plus sign for the equations Time given, not taken, not when you’re mine If all this is just time wasted I will gladly bide my sweet time, your sweet time Time given, not taken, time given Your sweet time, your sweet time
7.
Girl this situation was born of escalation For your consideration, this distant constellation And time bends while you’re waiting, a black hole of my own making With no deceleration and no illumination Don’t stop to breathe, more time, more speed All the days we should have set free All this on me, all the times we That last conversation, still background radiation And your considerations, distant observations But time stops while you’re waiting, a law of my own making With no acceleration and no renumeration Don’t stop to speak, more time, more speed All the days we could have cut free All this on me, all the times he Don’t stop, don’t speak, more time, more speed

8.
I’m sorry, two words, too much air between them These worries, hot coals to the cold of the ocean Bleach these blues white on the sand Are you ready for the end? You can’t undo what’s done We can’t rewind what’s run So I’ll count these days to come Yesterday is done I’m sorry, two words, too much earth beneath them These memories, hard cold like the stones I’m still holding Toss these rocks, gifts to the deep Are you ready to release? You can’t undo what’s done We can’t rewind waters run So I’ll count these days from one Yesterday is done
9.
Rapeseed and road Cumulus grows Hands off the wheel Eyes to the fields But you’ll never know how I really feel Caught in a landslide and I’m valley deep These seeds that grow Thorn tree from rose Eyes from the screen Then this machine will guide us all But you’ll never know how I really feel The cause of the landslide and I’m underneath You’ll never know how I really feel
10.
Hold Tight 02:43
Hold tight, there’s just no way out From the blinding here and now Hold fast, there’s just no way back Through the velvet black that’s past Hold tight, there’s just no way out From the blinding here and now Hold tight, there’s just no way out From the blinding here and now
11.
Turn on the radio TV to feel some glow Mind where your mind may roam No time for time alone Last night I saw you walking But I couldn’t hold the weight of talking To and fro about the bands we loved Then my thoughts were fast and falling I can’t hold this weight of nothing Momentarily weightless in the road So next time you see me walking Could we just smile and keep from talking Till the time that I can bear the load These days are fast and fleeting I can’t stop the past repeating Time is a burning wheel without you love Turn up your radio TV to feel the glow Mind where your mind may roam
12.
The light through your window The dust how it moves Suspended in sunbeams The atoms of you No nothing is stationary We’re entropy’s proof We drift and disorder The energy move

From the heat of one moment Our universe cools Bodies in motion Just passing through No, no , no, no, no, no, no I hang from that notion Like a marionette moves Pulled into motion By the weight of these shoes Imbued but emboldened I’ll rip the page new By sunset I’m folding And drinking for two Seek nothing from permanence Girl the pendulum spares no brass for you Another year over, the dust didn’t move No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no No, no, no ,no, no, no, no, no

about

Pavey Ark return with their second album, ‘More Time, More Speed’, out Friday 21 November.

The album is an exploration of time, and our relationship with it. It's about how our individual and collective experiences seem to stretch, contract and sometimes completely warp our perception of time. The future, the past. Time wasted, time cherished. Love, loss. New beginnings and the end of days.

‘More Time, More Speed’ is mixed by Paul Butler (prod. Michael Kiwanuka, Andrew Bird, The Teskey Brothers). Composer and producer Adrian McNally (The Unthanks) led the live string quartet studio session and co-produced and mixed three tracks on the album.

about

Pavey Ark Hull, UK

Pavey Ark are a cinematic indie-folk band from Yorkshire.

Atmospheric vocals, strings and horns glide over finger-picked guitar, melodic bass and complex percussion, giving a beautiful sound that evades immediate comparison.

Upon further listening, the band’s influences start to reveal themselves – from the ’60s and ’70s folk of Jackson C. Frank and Love, to Nick Drake and Radiohead.
