I was born into a good life, a house on a hill,
Parents who believed in me, and they always will.
Taught to dream big, to reach for the sky,
They saw a future in my wide-open eyes.
They said, “You’re gonna change the world, kid, you wait and see,
A doctor, a leader, a shining marquee.”
I aced every test, walked the stage with a grin,
A degree in my hand, ready to begin.
(Chorus)
C Dm7(xx0211) Am F
But I traded bright lights for paws and tails,
Found my own pack in the offbeat trails.
Not a doctor or lawyer, no high-paying role,
Dm C/E Am G
Just chasing a dream that’s feeding my soul.
Am G F C
I was born to burn bright, but I’m a furry instead,
Dm C/E G C
Building my life with new dreams in my head.
(Verse 2)
I walked the straight path, but it felt too tight,
The cubicles and suits just didn’t feel right.
I found color in the chaos, art in the wild,
A long tail, wolf’s howl, a dragon’s smile.
They said, “Where’s that bright kid we always knew?
The one with big plans, that’s not you.”
But I’m still here, just chasing the call,
Wearing fur at conventions, standing tall.
(Chorus)
Cause I traded bright lights for paws and tails,
Found my own pack in the offbeat trails.
Not a doctor or lawyer, no high-paying role,
Just chasing a dream that’s feeding my soul.
I was born to burn bright, but I’m a furry instead,
Building my life with new dreams in my head.
(Bridge)
Yeah, I know it looks crazy, I know it seems wrong,
But I’ve found my people, where I belong.
I’ve spent my last dime on a suit they’d despise,
But I’ve never felt more alive.
(Chorus)
So I traded bright lights for paws and tails,
Found my own pack in the offbeat trails.
Not a doctor or lawyer, no high-paying role,
Just chasing a dream that’s feeding my soul.
I was born to burn bright, but I’m a furry instead,
Building my life with new dreams in my head.
(Outro)
I still hear their voices, I still see their pride,
But my heart beats louder on this wild ride.
Born to burn bright, but I chose to be free,
In this world I’ve built—it’s enough for me.

I'd listened to this album years before attending my first furcon and I feel that the mood it sets is the closest thing to actually being there. It beautifully captures the soul of the furry fandom. dimpert

This album is amazing. It was very hard to choose my favorite track, but i choose Bigger because I love the groove and the lyrics. I really like A Fantasy and All Arise too. The vinyl record sounds great on my turntable and the artwork is beautiful. I can't wait for the next album ! Aquos_Fox

Very cute, and very true-to-life! The arrangement is extremely well-done on every track, it is hard to believe that this did not come from some large production company. I bought the LP, and I must admit that I am slightly disappointed with the sound quality. It was clearly cut from a compressed digital source. There are some artifacts present at softer passages that should otherwise be bone-jarringly smooth on high-fidelity LPs. lord_of_foxes
