about
I don't pretend to think that a song about peace will be the solution to all of the disheartening news we hear these days. But it feels good to sing about it anyway. And to hope that we can find a way forward together in this crowded and complicated world.
Special thanks to Daniel Harmon and Emily Rose for their helpful feedback on this song. And to Randy Gildersleeve too, for his expertise and wonderful advice!
lyrics
PEACE standard tuning
Peace, peace, peace
Peace to the mind
Peace to the heart
Peace, peace, peace
Peace to the lives broken apart
Peace to the torn
The bleary-eyed, battle worn
Soldier who’s so forlorn
Weary of war
Weary of war
Sing to us
Peace, peace, peace
Peace to the fist
Peace to the gun
Peace, peace, peace
Peace to the judge in everyone
Peace like the sound
Of rain finally falling down
Onto the hard, dry ground
We need you now, we need you now
Peace to the streets
Peace to our hands and feet
To our anxious heartbeat
Help us to breathe
Sweet bird of peace
Spread your wings
Over this world and sing
Of love and understanding
Sing to the west, sing to the east
Peace, peace, peace
Peace be to all and peace be to each
And peace in between
Peace to the place
Where our lives meet
