The typical duck in its range, to be found in any place with water, including the city park, creek in the garden and in various wetlands. The male has a green head, chestnut chest, and gray body. The female is spotted brown with orange and black markings on the beak. White wing bands on the top and bottom of a blue wing spot are much more pronounced compared to those of the American dark duck and the Mexican mallard.
