Creative Uses for Coffee Filters
TIp: Flower Pot Drain Hole Cover: Just lay a coffee filter in the bottom of the pot covering the hole before filling the pot. The soil will stay in the pot and the water will still drain out because that is what coffee filters are designed to do; let water through. They last for a long time, too; by the time they fall apart, the potting soil is well packed and the plant has roots that hold the soil together. I've been doing this for years! It works great!
Penny Ball - Tuesday Tidbit
Penny Ball for the garden. Pennies in the garden repel slugs and make hydrangeas blue. I love this idea. It looks old and new and beautiful.
FUNKY PURPLE
Love this retaining wall, and also am digging the repurposing of the old clothes line post as a plant hanger. The purple wall is pretty awesome, too.
Take that mosquitos!- Mosquito trap - Cut the top off a 2 liter bottle. Invert the cone and place it inside the straight part of the bottle. Glue the two pieces together. Add 1 tsp yeast and 1/2 cup sugar to some luke warm water, and pour the mixture into the bottle. Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide that you exhale. The yeast feeds off the sugar and emits the same gas, so the mosquito enters the bottle, thinking she will find food there.
