Pumpkin Heads

Original Jack O'Lanterns weren't pumpkin at all but actually turnips and potatoes!! The Irish brought the tradition to America and transitioned over the carvings to pumpkins since pumpkins didn't exist in Ireland. Ancient Celtic cultures carved turnips on All Hallow's Eve and placed an ember in them to ward off evil spirits!!
