Tasked with the challenge of creating an environment inside an international shipping container for the 2013 Kobe Biennale, Japanese designers Masakazu Shirane and Saya Miyazaki created Wink Space, a mind-bendingly trippy tunnel similar to a giant kaleidoscope. Continua in Light, Act II: Dance (excerpts)
“Continua in Light,” which had its first showing in January at the Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art in Santa Barbara, includes two projections and nine translucent suspended scrims hung in two triangular formations in front of a 10×28-foot screen on which their video is projected. The effect envelops the visitors in an immersive experience. The artists have also created still images from the video that will be exhibited.
