The Amalgam project began in earnest in late 2017. We wanted artists working across many different creative disciplines to unite. In previous projects, we curated fashion and art together that had visual and thematic overlaps. This time, we wanted to produce new work that would cross over many disciplines and mediums. Simply put, we wanted to generate a show where artwork, literature and music all worked together as one.
Robert Downie, Imogen Cygler, Finnian Langham and Hannah McKittrick are four local musicians all working within their own respectively diverse genres and scenes. Ranging from moody modular synthesis to the singer-songwriter tradition, this nine track album contains work which spoke to and from the literature and visual art of the Amalgam project from day dot. Collated here are their songs; traversing parched landscapes, downed train lines and the absurd encounters between characters of the Amalgam world.
