That's Crafty - Anything Goes

Hi Everyone,

Time for another challenge over at That's Crafty and the theme this time is: Anything Goes and runs for the next 3 weeks. So a nice, easy one for you all and plenty of time to enter.

So as it's an Anything Goes theme I thought I'd create a girl in the Jane Davenport style and use some cosmic shimmer flakes for her hair .......warning......they are as messy as hell!!

It's surprisingly an easy colour palette to work with and it's good that it manages to drag me away from the overuse of all things green!

Hi everyone,

A big thanks to all you wonderful ladies out there who took the time and trouble to leave me such lovely comments after my last post.

I'm still adjusting to it all and of course it's going to be a struggle, always will be I suppose, good and bad days.

I've had to give myself a big kick to get back into blogging, if I left it much longer I thought I'd never return, especially as I have various DT commitments that need fulfilling.

Speaking of which, there's a new challenge over at That's Crafty and this fortnights theme is: Seasons Greetings. If you enter you could win a lovely £20 voucher just in time for some Christmas treats for yourself of course.

Taking a little break

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all okay out there.

I don't really share anything personal on this blog and that's primarily because I use it just to show off arty stuff. I've been so grateful for having this blog as I've met so many lovely friends through it and been on some amazing design teams and long may it continue.

The reason I'm taking a little break is that my beloved Mum passed away Sunday morning after battling years of ill health. This is on top of losing my wonderful Dad and much loved Mother-in Law less then 3 years ago. My brother, who now lives in Australia, is also battling a rare form of Lymphoma so as you can see, it's been a testing few years.

I just thought I'd stick this on my blog as some of you may be wondering why I'm not posting at the moment or leaving my usual comments on your blogs. I'll still be on my usual spot at Thats Crafty! as luckily I'd managed to get ahead on a few makes so thought it made sense to still show them.

I'll leave you with a tag I made a couple of weeks ago. I was inspired by these words used by a lovely DT teamie of mine, lets hope I do find an invincible Summer somewhere.
For those of you who still have both parents or a parent still with you, if you've not contacted them for a while, please do it, you really never know how long you'll have left to appreciate them.

Mixed Media World challenge - Anything goes on Wood

Hi everyone,

Time for another challenge over at Mixed Media World and the theme for this one has been chosen by my lovely teamie Mo and its: Anything Goes On Wood. 

I know what you're all thinking...I bet Donna picked that theme herself but I really didn't although I'd be lying to say I wasn't happy about it!

So we'd love to see anything as long as its been created on wood or features wood somewhere and of course it has to have a mixed media feel to it too ;)

For my DT piece I used this wood plaque I got from Hobbycraft at a £1..bargain! Its all sanded for you plus it's a great size to work with too. Just apply some Gesso and you're good to go.

Pumpkin Power

Hi everyone,

I'm glad you all liked my grumpy cat yesterday.....I think it expressed how we all feel sometimes, that's my face usually when I have to wait longer than I expected for crafty supplies!

Rip it Up

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all okay out there and looking forward to the weekend.

Before I show you what I've made for today, I must congratulate the lovely Stella on her comment re my creation yesterday: 'A fab skull is never dull'.....now how funny is that?! Shall remember that and work that into one of my future blog posts!

For this creation I used a bit of my paper stash for collaging her hair....a VERY sticky business but fun too.

Leafy Loveliness

Hello everyone,

I have a drawing for you today with a leafy, Autumnal feel to it. To be fair, here down in the south of the UK the weather is lovely, really sunny which is highly surprising!!

I'm trying to draw my faces in a variety of styles but all of you out there who draw, you know what a struggle it can be to deviate from your 'style'. Many a time I think I've done something different then a nagging thought persists that it looks familiar and yes there's one just like it done months ago....very annoying!

Autumnal Vibes

Hello everyone,

Well yes Autumn is well and truly here in the UK. I always think of Autumn as a really lovely time of year with the Harvest Food festival at school in October when I was little.....many years ago of course!

I saw a little fox image while browsing on Pinterest and used that as my inspiration for my drawing. I usually just rely on drawing straight from my head but sometimes it's good to seek inspiration elsewhere ;)

Tim Holtz September 2015 Tag

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well out there.

You'll all be happy to know that first thing Saturday morning a brand new, shiny kettle was installed in my kitchen and copious amounts of lovely tea have been made since with it. Do you know that you can even get a 'wi fi kettle' that allows you to turn it on via your mobile and has a 'welcome home' mode?! Wow, who thought boiling water could be so sophisticated now!

Anyway, today I have my version of the Master of Grunge's September tag featuring Tim's big and small butterflies. I pretty much stuck to the original methods but used Wendy Vecchi's 'clearly for art' as my perspex.

Serendipity is a Cat

Well I had a major crisis this morning.....went to switch the kettle on for my much needed first cuppa of the day.....nothing happened!! Back to boiling the water on the cooker top like the good old days...not impressed!

Create Art

Hello everyone,

I'm back in the land of live blogging...did you all miss me?! Can I just say a really heartfelt, big thank you to all you lovely ladies who took the time to still leave wonderful comments on my scheduled posts...you lot really are stars ;)

I've just returned from a little break in France,  I took a few crafting supplies but sadly only managed to carve a few stamps...the rest of my efforts were binned! Don't you just hate it when your arty mojo goes and you feel like you've never made anything before in your life......hmmm.....

Anyway, I have made a card as a welcome back featuring the little face stamp I carved on holiday.
