I think the moon could use more AA... if you did that, you'd give it more depth, while keeping your simple style.

I do wish you made the building tiles more diverse though... they seem to be destroyed by an OCD bomb. :P

Overall, this is quite nice.

I didnt like the moon either, and those buildings near the 'camera' dont look good, try not to just copy and paste... but the fire and the smoke are really well done

Great BG. Only the far off distance mountain shapes seem weak because they are clean and orderly, if you will. I would think jaggy mountains would better backdrop a scene of chaos and destructions as they form the base of the story told by the scene in whole. In gameplay this would be an instant read therefore the jaggier the better.
It may not actually be 'jaggy' but 'tumolutuos' I mean to say.

one interesting note about destroyed buildings though - have you noticed that nobody ever draws them as though there were ever interiors? just 4 busted up walls :P
