limbotapes I’m so glad I was introduced to Porest. The variety of humour, darkness, real life and sun-faded sound design on this album is one of a kind.
“Tom and his Wife” is one of the gnarliest things I’ve ever heard. Favorite track: Giardia Gain.

about

Porest – Mood Noose

"Mood Noose" is Porest's 2nd or 3rd full length album – originally released by San Francisco's Resipiscent Records in 2005 as a Compact Disc. As a durational gesture, the album asked if it could be made available in a less tactile format in 2022. Its wish has been granted in 2023.

"Oakland’s Porest (aka Mark Gergis) wears many masks. This time it’s a noose of moods....an eclectic stockpile of harnessed multi-instrumental chaos in the form of razor-scored melodies, anthro-apologist cutups, brute ambience, mythological dramatizations and swirled radio psychedelia."

“I forgot it was your world” – Lionel Richie

“…you’ll just cry” - Drew Daniel (Matmos) / Pitchfork

about

Porest

Across decades, Porest has issued a trail of confounding agitprop sound art, post-globalized hate-pop, diabolical radio dramas and carefully rearranged realities.

Porest’s blatant embezzlement of human syntax and cultural misunderstanding broadcasts vital mixed messages.

Live performances integrate Porest’s music, performance and sound into a grand total sum that can’t be unseen.
