Guadeloupe is an overseas region of France in the Caribbean. The two main islands are Basse-Terre to the west and Grande-Terre to the east. The archipelago also comprises the smaller islands of Marie-Galante, La Désirade and the Îles des Saintes.

La Désirade is a small island, only 11 km long and 2 km wide and a population of about 1,800. It is Guadeloupe’s least-developed and least-visited island. Even the nicest beaches are nearly deserted.

The Antilles is an archipelago bordered by the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. There are Greater Antilles and Lesser Antilles, Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (eg Guadeloupe). They all make up The Antilles.

Guadeloupe is an overseas region of France located in the Caribbean. Guadeloupe is an integral part of France, as are the other overseas departments. The Guadeloupe Archipelago includes the large islands of Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre, the nearby islands of Marie-Galante and La Desirade and numerous smaller islands.

The 35 km coastline of St Francois is bordered by warm, turquoise-blue waters, and many of its shores are shaded by majestic, lush palm trees.
