The Palmeral of Elche | Spain

The old city of Elche is basically built within a forest of 200,000 palm trees. One tree for every inhabitant! Its origins date back to the time the Muslim city of Elche was erected, towards the end of the tenth century A.C., when much of the Iberian peninsula was Arab.

The Palmeral of Elche is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Palmeral is an oasis, a system for agrarian production in arid areas. It is also a unique example of Arab agricultural practices on the European continent.

Old Town of Galle | Sri Lanka

It is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in South and South-East Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and South Asian traditions. Lake Malawi National Park | Malawi

Lake Malawi National Park is a national park at the southern end of Lake Malawi in Malawi. Lake Malawi is one of the deepest lakes in the world. The national park is home to many hundreds of fish species, nearly all endemic. Its importance for the study of evolution is comparable to that of the finches of the Galapagos Islands.

Cape Maclear or Chembe is a town located in Lake Malawi National Park, close to the islands of Domwe and Thumbwe.

Lake Malawi National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The park consists of 200,000 m2 of greenery, featuring beautiful botanical gardens, two museums, a visitor center, a lake, walkways and jogging tracks, making it the largest urban park in Kuwait.

San Andrés Island | Colombia

San Andrés is a Colombian coral island in the Caribbean Sea. Seven hundred kilometers from the coast of the Colombian mainland. This coral island is part of a diverse ecosystem of reefs, geysers, groves, and cays. Needless to say, it’s perfect for diving, snorkeling, and outdoor exploring.

The archipelago includes two other main islands: Providencia and Santa Catalina. The approximate population of the islands is 85,000.

Palacio de Valle, Cienfuegos | Cuba

The colonial town of Cienfuegos was founded in 1819 in the Spanish territory but was initially settled by immigrants of French origin. It became a trading place for sugar cane, tobacco and coffee. Situated on the Caribbean coast of southern-central Cuba at the heart of the country’s sugar cane, mango, tobacco and coffee production area, the town first developed in the neoclassical style.

The Palacio de Valle was built in 1913 for a business tycoon. Today it is open to tourists at its lovely first floor restaurant and also holds various cultural events throughout the year.

The July 22nd Arch is a monument that spans the Independence Drive which is the road that leads into the city.

The island of Martinique is a France overseas region with a population of about 400,000. This Carribean island is located somewhere between Saint Lucia and Dominica. Martinique is your typical paradise island, with unspoiled coastline and pristine beaches.

Being a French overseas region, martinique uses French stamps. The geographical locations are not mentioned on the postmark, only the ROC code. The ROC code on the postmark reads 19460A, referring to Fort-de-France, capital of Martinique.

The Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona is a complex built between 1901 and 1930. It was a fully functioning hospital until June 2009. Today it functions as a cultural center. The origins of this hospital date back to early 15th century.

Together with Palau de la Música Catalana, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Church of Saint Francis of Assisi | Brazil

The Pampulha Modern Ensemble was the centre of a visionary garden city project created in 1940 at Belo Horizonte, Brazil.


Designed around an artificial lake, this cultural and leisure centre included a casino, a ballroom, the Golf Yacht Club and the São Francisco de Assis church. The buildings were designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, in collaboration with innovative artists.
