Informacje
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Southeast region of the United States, Greer, South Carolina, is a vibrant city with a rich history and a bright future. One of the fastest-growing cities in the state, Greer is halfway between the major metropolitan areas of Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina. While it has “big city” amenities, Greer exudes Southern charm and a welcoming feeling of home. Intentional planning, collaboration, and vision drive Greer’s downtown development. Greer's Central Business District, also known as Greer Station, has become a destination with approximately 12 square blocks of retail, dining, entertainment, and professional service organizations. A National Historic District revitalized by a shared vision of the future, brick-paved streets and a canopy of lights welcome visitors to Greer’s award-winning downtown. Greer’s pro-business climate, location, and logistics assets make it fertile ground for companies seeking access to global markets. Innovators from around the world have planted roots here. At least 35 foreign-owned companies are currently doing business in Greer. Germany-based BMW Manufacturing recently invested about $125 million to build a vehicle accessory center and a cutting-edge logistics facility inside the city. Recent estimates put the population of Greer at about 55,000 with a projected 5% annual growth rate. The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is located just outside the city borders making it easy to get to Greer from anywhere in the world. GSP offers more than 50 non-stop flights a day and has earned the title of Best Small Airport in North America three years in a row by Airports Council International. The City of Greer is investing in outdoor recreation and exploration. For National Trails Day, we want to highlight two projects that are currently in the planning stages: The South Tyger River Greenway and the Wards Creek Trail. These trails are part of a long-range vision and will open up access to parks, schools, neighborhoods, and downtown Greer. The South Tyger River Greenway will be an ADA-accessible trail eventually connecting Country Club Park, Greer Golf, and Greer High School. The Wards Creek Trail will weave neighborhoods into the heart of downtown with a multi-use path and green spaces.

Greer is all about golf this weekend with the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX and the opening of a new downtown business. Trade Street Social officially opens to the public today at 4pm. You can pop in to eat or have a drink, but you can also practice your swing on one of the high-tech golf simulators in a casual, air-conditioned space. Trade Street Social has an online booking system. You can reserve a simulator for up to six people for one to two hours. You have to be 18 or older to make a reservation, and if children are included in the group, an adult over 21 has to be with them while they’re using the simulator. The cost includes clubs designed for men, women, righties, and lefties.

The City of Greer is shooting for a mid-summer opening for the new basketball courts at Stevens field, but there’s still more work to do. The court surface is in, the goals are going up, and final striping is underway. When the project is finished, the courts at Stevens Field will bring opportunities for free play, community events, games, and even skateboarding classes. We’ll keep you posted on the progress!

Greer’s Moonlight Movies series returns tonight with Tangled on a brand-new LED screen. This means brighter visuals and an earlier start time. The movie starts at 7 p.m., but before the show, your family can enjoy free crafts, face painting, and a visit from Rapunzel herself. Stop by the Parks, Recreation & Tourism tent before 6:45 to enter the raffle and learn more about upcoming events. Moana 2 hits the Moonlight Movies screen next on June 19.
