This was fun! Took a cable car up to the mountains in Slovakia yesterday. There’s also a cable car to the very peak, but you are only allowed a max of 50 minutes there, and tickets to the peak were sold out yesterday. It was such a beautiful day, though. The atmosphere and the rocky textures of the mountain side, with the various colors are so enchanting. Got some good footage of the process of this painting, some day it will make it’s way to my Patreon as another plein air painting tutorial...

Which version do you like better? Sometimes the background is the hardest part. Yes, you read that right. I could sit and stare for longer than I’d like to admit just debating the background. This one was feeling a bit generic with the neutral soft grey so I decided to add a bit of drama and darken it up with a deep deep olive green. Do you like the lighter or darker version better.
