95K views · 1.2K reactions | 🎨 “I’m not a real artist…” If you’ve ever thought this — you’re not alone. This mindset holds SO many talented people back. Let’s talk about it 👇 ⸻ 💥 The controversial truth: Being an artist isn’t about money, fame, or whether you went to art school. But for some reason, we still feel like we have to earn the title. I know I certainly did..I started selling on Etsy in 2008 and I felt like I wasn’t a real artist. I hadn’t participated in one show, didn’t have a website, and I wasn’t gallery represented. I was making a lot of money selling art, but yet I still didn’t feel worthy of the titled of being an artist. I turned it into a positive. That feeling I had is what motivated me and push me to get where I am today. Too be honest I really only started referring to myself as an artist in 2021 and I still find it challenging to say out loud. Here are 5 ways to kick that imposter feeling to the curb and finally own your identity as an artist. ⸻ 1. Redefine what being an artist means If you make art with intention, you’re already doing it. Period. You don’t need a degree or a gallery to qualify. 2. Say it out loud — even if it feels awkward Start calling yourself an artist. Put it in your bio. Own it. Repetition builds confidence (and credibility). 3. Stop waiting for permission Nobody’s handing out gold stars or official titles. You get to decide who you are. Don’t let gatekeeping hold you back. 4. Find your people Follow, connect, and talk to other artists. Community will remind you that doubt is normal — and that it doesn’t define you. 5. Celebrate every win Finished a piece? Posted your first reel? Made a sale? Treat it like a big deal. Because it is. ⸻ ✨ You don’t need to be “discovered” to be valid. You already are. 📌 Save this for the days you need a reminder 🔁 Share it with an artist friend who needs to hear this and 💬 Comment below — what made you finally feel like a “real” artist? #ArtistStruggles #ImposterSyndrome #EmergingArtist #RealArtist #CreativeConfidence #MindsetShift #ArtistSupport #ArtCommunity #SaveAndShare #ArtLife | Lori Mirabelli
