Nautical Bottle, Mermaids - Etsy

This piece is part of my salvaged bottle series. My intent is to create something that looks like it could have been recovered from the bottom of the ocean. I've reused a green glass wine bottle for this piece, added crackle paint, then sculpted clusters of barnacles with polymer clay over the bottle. This is an organic process, I add bits of shell or charms as I work, adding and subtracting as I go to achieve what I feel looks "right." After baking I add texture medium and paint. The cork stopper is topped with more polymer clay and a shell. This bottle has been sanitized and would be suitable for beverages, although it was created with the intent to be a display item. I recommend using a damp cloth to clean the outside of the bottle if necessary. The paint and clay on this bottle has been sealed with a UV resistant poly acrylic varnish for shine and durability.
