Thank you to the people building PNLCS

PNLCS exists because volunteers give their evenings and weekends to it. Every merged pull request, translation and bug report below is a gift to every hosting company running this software. Thank you.

Your name could be next — see how to contribute or view the full contributor graph on GitHub.

Why an open-source WHMCS alternative?

Every hosting company needs a billing system. For twenty years that meant paying a per-installation license for closed software you cannot audit or extend without permission. PNLCS exists so the tool your business depends on is one you actually own.

Everything a hosting business needs — in one portal

PNLCS covers the full customer lifecycle. And uniquely, your customers manage their hosting from the billing portal itself: files, mail, databases, FTP, subdomains, DNS, cron and backups — no second login.

Invoicing and payments

Product catalog, checkout, recurring invoices, credit and proration. Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net and bank transfer out of the box.

Domains and SSL

Registrar modules, WHOIS, transfers, DNS management and the SSL certificate lifecycle, handled from the same place.

Support and knowledge base

Ticketing with departments and priorities, canned replies, a knowledge base and announcements — the whole support desk.

Server modules

Provision accounts automatically on Panelica, cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin and Proxmox — or write your own module.

Docker hosting as a product

Sell isolated container hosting: customers deploy apps from a curated template catalog straight from the portal, with resource limits from their plan.

Reseller hosting

Resellers get their own client base, pricing and branding while you keep control of the infrastructure.

30 languages, 15 themes

Ship a portal that speaks your customers' language and matches your brand without touching the code.

Affiliates and marketing

Affiliate tracking, coupons and promotions built in — the growth tools you would otherwise bolt on.

Running in minutes

One Docker image, one command. Or install on any PHP 8.3 host with MySQL. The documentation walks you through your first product, gateway and server module.

$ docker pull panelica/pnlcs-runtime

Full instructions and configuration reference in the documentation. Prefer to click around first? The live demo is a real installation.

We built PNLCS because we needed it ourselves — and we believe the software a hosting business runs on should not be a monthly rent. It should be a tool you own, understand, and can improve. That only works if it is built together. The Panelica team, maintainers of PNLCS

This is a volunteer project. Come build it with us.

PNLCS is developed in the open on GitHub and shaped by the people who use it. You do not need to be a Laravel expert to make a difference — hosting experience, language skills, design sense and careful bug reports are all real contributions.

DevelopersLaravel / PHP features, payment gateways, registrar and server modules, tests.
Hosting operatorsReal-world workflows, edge cases, migration stories from WHMCS. You know what is missing.
Translators30 locales and counting — help make your language perfect.
DesignersThemes, portal UX, accessibility, screenshots for the docs.
WritersDocumentation, guides, tutorials — the docs matter as much as the code.
TestersReproduce issues, verify fixes, run release candidates on your stack.

Your first contribution, in four steps

Pick something small

Browse open issues on GitHub. Anything labelled for newcomers is a great start — or fix the thing that annoyed you in the demo.

Fork and branch

Fork the repository, create a branch, run the project locally with Docker following the docs.

Open a pull request

Describe what you changed and why. Small, focused PRs get reviewed fastest.

Ship together

A maintainer reviews, you iterate, it merges — and it reaches every PNLCS installation in the next release, with your name in the history.

Not ready to code? Starring the repository, sharing PNLCS with a hosting friend, or filing one well-written bug report already helps more than you think.

Built by the team behind Panelica

PNLCS is maintained by Panelica, the modern server management panel. The two are natively integrated — automatic account provisioning, customer self-service and Docker hosting sales — but PNLCS is not tied to Panelica: it ships with server modules for the panels most hosting companies already run, and adding a new one is a single module class.
