‘Drums of Pitori’ is a compilation of 7 raw and minimalist kwaito house bombs by South-African producers Machance and DJ Abbas (who passed away in 2008). Machance performed most of the vocals on it himself. The songs were released under the radar on CD between 2005 and 2006, but this compilation is their first official release. Machance, Abbas, and other artists from this scene used to call the genre ‘Sgitjha’, meaning ‘Drums of Pitori’ in Sepitori, the Pretorian urban language. Pitori is Pretoria, the capital of South Africa where they're from.
