Pepe's grandfather, ¨The Golden Bull¨, was the owner of the sugar cane fabric San Francisco and also the master of many slaves, including Narciso's grandfather, who was the King of the Congo tribe. Both men live in the small town of Guanajay. Narciso is the historian of the town and fought with Castro in the Cuban Revolution. Pepe is very sick and awaits the approval of his Spanish citizenship after the Revolution took everything away from his family. They know of each other, but have never met.
