The experience is traumatic for him, and he realizes that he's actually attracted to men. Time passes and Alan becomes very wealthy, and dates a man half his age, Dicky (played by Zachary Macias). After he dies, he leaves his fortune behind to his boyfriend Dicky and any potential children he may have. Four individuals who've never met (played by Maddie Martin, Lexi Scanlan, Cody Shindelbower, and Tim Baran) end up being his legal heirs and all have to live together in Alan's house alongside Dicky in order to get their share of the fortune.
