She, however, refuses to work until she is ready and also insists on mixing with the family. Charlie goes down to argue with her and she chases him from the room with a knife; she does the same thing with his wife. They are forced to eat a box of candy to keep from starving. Later Charlie goes down and bribes the cook. She feeds him. His wife comes down and demands an explanation.
