He wears his chum's suit and leaves his wallet in his other clothes. In a hired car he takes Billie and her sister to a Country Club, where he discovers his loss. A thief snatches Billie's purse, and after a chase Jack gets the purse back. In desperation he takes out a bill intending to put it back later. They go in for tea, and Jack pays the waiter with the "borrowed" bill, when Billie looking in her purse exclaims that the thief stole a counterfeit bill she had been carrying. Jack, terror-stricken, rushes the girls out, and the waiter and house detective pursue them. Jack's car breaks down, and running back to see if he is followed the detective seizes him and takes him back to the club. The girls go on home, Billie paying for the car. Jack's chum finds the wallet and brings it to him at the club. Jack does not know how to explain matters, but decides to muss himself up and tell Billie he fought a hand of ruffians to recover her note. He comes in limping, Billie believes the story and accepts Jack on the spot. Written by
