Graves, well along in years, is not in the best of health. He gives the girl every attention, and even signs a check for $4,000 for a charitable institution in which Doris is interested. Doris, however, has no love for the elderly millionaire, thinking only of George Harding. Dr. Ceneri, a charlatan, knowing of Graves' longing for youth, takes advantage of the millionaire's declining mentality and offers to sell him an elixir which will bring back his youth. The engagement of Doris Keene and George Harding is announced. The charlatan calls at the millionaire's home with the elixir hypnotizes him and then dyes Graves' hair brown. When Graves awakens he really believes that at least thirty years have fallen off his shoulders. With this belief comes the ambition to win Doris. He proposes and is rejected. He vows to be revenged upon George Harding, his secretary. Graves makes it appear that Harding has absconded with the payroll of the company, and the young secretary is arrested and placed in jail. Graves then goes to Doris and tells her that he will have Harding released from prison, providing she marries Graves. Doris resolves to sacrifice herself for her sweetheart, and marries the millionaire. In the meantime, the elixir carried by Graves is exhausted, and as influence of this powerful drug wanes, he is seized with heart pains. When Doris, his bride, scorns his love, Graves shouts to her that George Harding is innocent of any crime, and that it was a scheme of his to gain possession of the girl. Then he is again seized with a paroxysm of pain and falls lifeless. Graves' butler overhears his confession to his bride. Harding is released from jail because Graves' confession frees him of any guilt. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
