It is played fully in reverse, as well as spoken phonetically in reverse English, then screened in reverse for the audience, in order to build an uneasy sense of disjointed spectral eeriness. Proprium carefully fuses elements of Franz Kafka type surrealism and dreamlike illusive fantasy, featuring isolated bizarre and surrealistic predicaments of the story's alienated protagonist.
