Presenting himself at the box office of one of the most expensive playhouses, he makes an effort to secure seats. The treasurer informs him that the house is sold out for the four coming weeks. The husband visits the different hotels, in the hope of procuring two. After an exhaustive search he succeeds in procuring two at an excessive price. He places them carefully in his pocket, returns to his office. He hastens homeward. Dinner is hastily dispatched. Both begin to dress. The husband is shortly in readiness, and seeks diversion in the evening paper. The wife's frequent changes of mind regarding what she shall wear have exhausted her patience, and she is in despair. She is finally clad to her complete satisfaction, and at once seeks her husband. He is snoozing on the couch. She calls to him. He awakens. The wife bids him make haste. It is half past eleven. She has exhausted the interim between seven and eleven o'clock, selecting a suitable gown with hat to match. Written by
