Jeremy goes off to negotiate terms for producing his latest screenplay while Claire is left bored and alone. She discovers a screenplay in his luggage that portrays a dramatized retelling of their meeting and relationship within a 1955 setting. We watch as the screenplay recounts their awkward first encounter, the joyous moments of first love and eventual separating conflict, as well as their nervous reuniting to make a film together (a retelling of their 1955 relationship set amidst a 1920s setting), narrating all the way up to their current circumstance. When Jeremy returns Claire confronts him to which he implores her to continue reading. As she reads we watch as the story reveals that Jeremy has been keeping a devastating secret from her. The narrated screenplay reveals Jeremy's plan to write a movie for Claire to star in and restore her acting career which she had sacrificed for him as his final act of love for her.
