This extract is based on Elizabeth Sawyer, a hell raiser, and later accused and executed for witchcraft in England, year 1621. Sawyer was convicted of incantations and satanic ritualistic curses, and thrown in prison to be hanged without proper trial. She was innocent, but year 1691 was not so forgiving of eccentric, crook- back women. With no other option, she embraced her witchery and went down cursing, kicking, and screaming. This extract depicts a prison scene that was excluded from Dekker's original play. No one knows what happened in that nasty dungeon pit before her death...until now.
