Inspired by the designs of Leonardo da Vinci, he decided to build a flying machine, powered by human muscle, which he called The Ornithopter. The film is set in the picturesque scenery of Kashubian hills, where Ryszard performs his attempts of taking the machinery to the skies. Realization of his great dream is accompanied by children - the audience his circus performances. Their whispers "will fly - won't fly" are both skeptical and hopeful.
