Despite a media blitz at the time, cancer institutes wrote off the idea of human milk therapy as treatment for cancer as a novelty, and a clinical trial was never held, so the treatment never became an approved course of action for doctors to take with cancer patients. However, in the US, when cancer patients go searching for alternative methods of cancer treatment to avoid chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, they often find the research from Dr. Hakansson in Sweden, and simply decide of their own volition to drink donated human milk to see if it will work to treat their cancer.
