David offers to convince Big Philly to leave. Sal agrees, hoping David will be shot, beaten or killed, giving him a chance to play hero and claim self-defense and defense of minor in killing or wounding Big Philly. David breaks the brick into five pieces, takes a piece and meets Big Philly outside. He throws the stone, knocking the big man silly, and overcomes him. The neighborhood cheers him, to Sal's disgust. David is a hero. Jonathan and David become friends; David also develops eyes for Sal's daughters. See less
