But just where did Malaysian batik originate from? The origins of batik are a mystery. While the countries in the Nusantara claim that batik originated from there, other countries in the world have also been practising this art form. But wherever its origins, over the years this craft has developed its own particular aesthetic design, peculiar to Malaysia... with motifs that tend to favour free-hand geometric and plant designs.
