Rare indeed are scientific achievements that compare with the results of the official tests with the Wright Brothers' aeroplane, just concluded at Washington. It was by special arrangement that the Edison Company obtained the exclusive privilege of photographing these tests for motion pictures, and this privilege was granted only after considerable negotiation. The rise of the huge "bird of the air," and its successive swoops as it circles its course over the broad parade ground, the evident interest and excitement of the assembled spectators, are all reproduced with the fidelity of the camera, the films portraying both Wrights being remarkably clear and distinct.
