They take a breather and sit down at an old artifact - a tank, taking a moment to spend some quality time together. The old man shares an important life lesson with the boy - we pretend to be soldiers, but 'don't forget to love someone in between'. The old man reminisces. We skip back to a moment forty years earlier, a picnic on the same tank. The young Samuel is courting his wife, just before being sent off to war. The young couple's loving embrace brings us back to the present time. Samuel asks his grandson whether he would be up to a picnic that evening. Together they leave the tank.
