Ruth is touched by the idea but before any romancing can begin the day is knocked off kilter. First Joanne arrives home earlier than expected, then Ruth has to go to work. Not to be deterred, Andy willingly takes up Joanne's offer for advice about how to make the day go really well. However, their differing views on what to buy for Ruth cause problems for Andy. Joanne advises something sexy but Andy picks out some gloves and a bag. Exasperated, Joanne swaps the present without Andy's knowledge.
