Yesterday, only the major players in international mountaineering could court its West face. Even today, any attempt is necessarily a long-term journey, with no certainty of success. For half a century, the Drus have contained a summary of the history of modern mountaineering. During the winter of 2004, three climbers of the latest generation, Guillaume Avrisiani, Philippe Batoux and Christophe Dumarest ventured into the Lafaille route, the most modern of the routes traced in the face. The three lovers immerse themselves in the heart of the cathedral of the Mont-Blanc massif for a journey through history. Based on numerous filmed archives and testimonies from Guido Magnone, Catherine Destivelle, and Christophe Profit, director Bertrand Delapierre retraces the history of this mythical mountain.
