In the center is the synagogue on Bornplatz, the Talmud Torah school on Grindelhof. The synagogue was damaged during the pogrom against Jewish institutions on the night of November 9th, 1938 and several days later. In 1939, the Jewish community was forced to sell the property to the city of Hamburg below its value. The city had the building demolished between June 1939 and January 1940.
