This documentary updates the spectators on the U.S. lawmakers' portrayal of economic penalties and question their effectiveness while recognizing several other factors that have turned the sky into a death trap for Iranians. Sanctions on the Sky intends to conceptualize the effects of the passenger safety crisis on the people by narrating their stories and giving them a voice. It indicates what these embargoes do to real-life air passengers in Iran. The film explores Iranians' point of view on U.S. sanctions, not the politicians' justifications for banning the sale of aviation repair components.
