In the year of Gimi (1919), at the young age of thirteen, Sun-nyeo was sold as a daughter-in-law for 300 Islands of rice to the wealthy Jeong family in Chungcheong-do. Although the body is sold due to poor family life, Sunnyeo is from a Yangban family, and she has learned most manners and words. The palanquin carrying Sunnyeo from Seoul takes four days to reach the Jeong family in Chungcheong-do, and Sun-nyeo, who is unfamiliar with everything, misses her hometown and misses her family, so tears flow deep in her heart.
