The families' Right-to-Know the fate and whereabouts of their missing relatives is a fundamental concern of international humanitarian law and human rights law. Authorities' legal obligations are laid out in the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, along with the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. The unresolved issue of missing persons has been a heavy burden for the concerned families and the society in general for more than 20 years, ever since the armed conflict in Kosovo has ended. According to the records of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), more than 1,600 persons are still unaccounted for in relation to the 1998-1999 Kosovo armed conflict. Written by
