The casting process is long, but Brit finally finds the perfect candidate in Catherine to send overseas, and to self-document the trip. Along the way in this movie-within-a movie we see complex interactions between the director and the actor, as well as moments with her mother, Fausta, who anxiously waits and watches her embark on a journey of self-discovery. Catherine eventually finds and meets Brit's long lost father but it is a disappointing interaction and she is not allowed to film him.
