Göingeflickornas breakthrough came in 1961 with the song "Kära mor/Dear Mother" on the Joker label. The radio-pirate Radio Mercur and Radio Nord played song frequently while the national broadcaster Sveriges Radio SR didn't because "Kära mor" was considered too sentimental, but after public pressure, SR started playing it which resulted in that "Kära mor" became the song of the year in 1961.
