When I ask my father about these events, he avoids my questioning. This lack of knowledge about one of my grandparents has in turn intrigued and enraged me for many years. Thus, fairly recently I have set out on a personal quest to discover who my grandfather was. However, during this journey, I realized I was chasing a ghost and what I was aiming for was actually to connect to my father. The film, unfolding as a conversation between my father and me seeks to address this and break my silence. At the same time, cinematic reenactments bring to life certain memories. that shape the film into a very personal hybrid documentary, that also speaks to a universal story of intergenerational trauma; father/daughter relationships; and the lingering impact of global conflict on individual lives.
